MUNTZ 8 Track

One of the great things about walking on a very regular basis, besides the obvious, is that after a while you get to notice things. You meet fellow walkers, you can spot them a mile away by their gait, you can guess which vehicle is behind you, an SUV or a sedan, a maxi taxi, a truck. Where I walk, twice per day, I notice things. Like the strange placement of 'pickets' in a square pattern near a fence. The 'pickets' were wrapped in decorative patterned paper with safety tape wrapped joining the four poles, like a police tape barrier. The next day I saw stones being placed in a particular pattern in the area of the four 'pickets'. This is when I got concerned. What was this? some sort of shrine? This was on a fence surrounding a huge water tank. You walk the area long enough all will come to light. Met a neighbor attending to the shrine only to find out that she was the person who had planted a 'coralita' vine to grow on the chainlink fence and the neighborhood 'wacker men' would do their job and destroy the vine, hence the makeshift vine protection system.  Many times it is never what you think it is.

The LBGT group is once again under fire by none other than the heads of the religious right, strangely enough, all males. I just find it difficult to believe that in this day and age we are having this conversation. Basically, the heads of a number of religious organizations have put all the ills of society on the gay community. The gay community is now responsible for the high crime rate, the breakdown in the morals of the society and other things that create 'fire and brimstone'.
When are these guys going to get it? When are they going to get the nerve to tell their congregation or followers that the 2500 gang members who are wreaking havoc in the country might just not be all gay? They might be very troubled youth who have drifted from their religious moorings because crime does pay a lot more than some 8-4 jobs.
How can big grown men, educated and experienced make the connection between being gay and a complete breakdown in society? Maybe the weekly monetary contributions have been lacking recently and they need to fire up the patrons by preaching hate against certain members of the community. Are we going to see legislation being brought to the Parliament whereby gay people must wear a 'rainbow' identification tag in public? I remember reading somewhere that in the 1930's certain people were identified as being not equal and had to wear yellow badges to identify who they were.
This is as bad as the proposed banning of Android Boxes. We continue to live on the Rock governed by MUNTZ 8 Track player reasoning.

This past week has been a bit trying for me and my family. We have been accused by none other than the PMOTT of being corrupt during my term in public office. Why all of a sudden have I surfaced, a person who has not been in the public glare for two-plus years makes me wonder what is going on? I am dealing with the accusations separately but it is very troubling.
As usual, there is always a reason for 'pelting big stone' and sure as the 'wacker man' cuts down the 'coralita vine' the real story will emerge.

People of the Rock, stay strong, plant vines, love your gay family, reject discrimination, question your religion ( if you so desire).

Good night and good luck!

Delta 4 over and out!

Sitting here in Maraval tonight its very windy with the electrical power dipping every now and again. From all reports the storm has gone to the north and the island of Trinidad is OK. Tobago however could be in for a rough patch. The Tropical Storm, now named Bret, is the second for the season and was formed very low in the Atlantic and threatened both Trinidad and Tobago. The last time a hurricane was named Bret was in August, 1999. It was a category 4 hurricane that thankfully did not prove to be that destructive with minimum fatalities and physical damage to property. Of course I marvel at the officialdom in T&T. Today, the party boats were out sailing to wherever. The island is under a storm watch and nobody thought it wise to restrict non-essential marine traffic. The Tobago ferries were restricted, the offshore oil and gas platforms were being evacuated and we were at the same time loading 'feters' to go on a party cruise. What exactly is the protocol? If a storm e...

ADD

A great thing happened today. I washed my car and it did not rain. OK, so other absolutely great things made history today, I am sure something was discovered that will change mankind, decisions by world leaders for world peace. None of that is of interest to me because the simple task of washing my car was what was of great import and I marvelled at the sun and dry weather. It is the little things in ones life that give the greatest joy. Tomorrow should be the same with a prediction of only 20% precipitation. Two days with a clean car is good. I am one of those who curse WASA who has leaks on the main roads with spray flying all around and dirtying up my clean car. WASA should have zero leaks, that should be WASA's goal, I don't think that they are interested in any of this as the leaks continue and the complaints from the citizens continue. I remember in the Manifesto of the ruling party a commitment was made to increase the truck delivery of truck borne water. Go figure! ...

'spinning top in mud'

It's a dark and stormy night here in the Maraval Valley. Hearing thunder in the distance, heavy drizzle, wind, cool temperature. The small 'Bajan' frogs are revving tonight creating a racket. I guess it's the rainy season and this is what you get. It is now one week since Tropical Storm Bret came over the island and for many people things have not yet gotten back to normal. Reading one of the weekly columnists today writing about his growing up in a flood prone area and basically the family taking it in their stride every rainy season. He commented on the fact that his father knew where they were living and never blamed the authorities or demanded from the authorities any compensation for the losses suffered as a result of the annual floods. It is different now and demands are made for every 'big toe bounce'  and it seems that no one takes responsibility for their lot in life. Not sure where this came from but there has to be a line as to how far a government c...
