' flim run out'

I listened to the PMOTT make his statement today on the CL Financial issue. I thought he was doing quite well, very convincing with his spiel. After outlining the facts, as told to him presumably by the Minister of Finance, he then spoke about the fact that the Judiciary would be the guardians protecting and seeking the interest of the taxpayer. That got me worried. The same Judiciary which has shown itself to be an embarrassment, the same Judiciary whose head refuses to apologize to the national community and then immediately resign.
Then out of the blue came the 'blackman' talk. Where in God's name did that come from? Why did the PMOTT think for one minute that he had to say that? He is the PMOTT and we expect that he would do all within his power to ensure the rights of all the citizens are maintained at all times. What is this 'blackman' to 'blackman' talk, are these the words of a statesman? I also felt very uneasy when he said 'Trust me'. Based on the history of this whole CLF debacle, based on the history of this present administration I don't think for one minute the word 'trust' resonates with the citizenry.
Of course as soon as the PMOTT makes his statement the shareholders of CLF are stating that he got his facts wrong.
Where was the Minister of Finance? Surely he should have been there to answer questions.

So the fun continues, we cannot get the minutest detail right for the right reason!

For those of us who traverse the lower Beetham and Wrightson Rd area, near the Twin Towers one can see a long line up of trucks parked on the left side of the road. These trucks are lining up waiting to be loaded on the Tobago cargo vessel. In 2014 recognizing the unnecessary traffic that would be created by the trucks heading for the then replacement cargo vessel we made other arrangements. We fenced off part of the St Vincent St jetty area and created a park for the trucks. Once the vessel was ready to load we allowed the trucks to exit the park area and in a controlled move make their way to the port to be loaded. This required some additional supervision and management but it solved the problem of the congestion on the road, especially near the Hyatt.
There will always be problems one just needs to recognize them and deal with it.

Love how some police are refusing to wear the new addition of body cameras as part of their uniform. I would tell those officers 'no camera, only desk duty'. What stupidness is this? It is a good thing that these are digital cameras because next thing we will hear is 'flim run out'.
The Ag CoP has a lot to do to redeem himself as far as his performance goes and he needs to put his foot down and take on the Association. Its like the officers refusing to operate the speed guns and insist on ' holding a gazette paper' trying to stop speeding motorist.

Why does the local media think it is a good story to have an interview with the person who was responsible for the murder of 25 people, caused billions of dollars in damage in the capital city, destroyed hundreds of other lives and changed the country in a way we never thought could happen? Why? This person and his band of whatever created havoc, the rock would never be the same again.
This person walked away from it all as though it never happened. We might as well award him the highest honor for something, obviously there are people who think he is a hero. Now that it's not the Trinity Cross he actually may accept the honor.

The residents of Woodbrook are now being fined for putting their garbage for the Refuse Div to pick up. According to one resident the practice is a decades old one as to the time the bags of garbage are put out. The Litter Wardens say that this is no longer acceptable as the vagrants will now have access to the garbage. What is the problem here, the residents doing what they have done for the longest time or the issue of vagrants and the failure of the City Corp to deal with the vagrant problem? Where is the chained man?

Hey, it's Friday already. Tomorrow we lay to rest the 'cocoa man'. Within recent times you see a number of people, mainly young people, producing some of the finest chocolate, excellent packaging and taking the cocoa industry in a different direction. Growing cocoa and now producing a finished product, chocolate is the way to go. I am sure Pablo would be proud of the children of the cocoa!

Good night and good luck!

'apology' expression of regret at having caused trouble for someone

Today Trinidad and Tobago was on fire. The discussions on the 'apology,' discussions on the status of the Parliament, everybody is now a certified meteorological expert reporting rainy season rain, people were out and about being very assertive about things that many of them did not really understand. Heat in the place! The statements being made, which caused the 'apology' to then be made, were being said, I think, without really understanding who we are as a people. This is 2017 and we still are having trouble in coming to grips with many social and historic issues that strangely enough are being discussed every day in many places and yet it is only a problem depending on who makes the statement. Let me say that the statement that was made was, even though to many factual, however it rubbed people the wrong way. This is where I have a problem. You read columns written by certain persons that under no circumstances will offend any sector of the society. That same posi

'the bongo night'

She looks at me and says ' you know what night it is?'. I immediately think of 'the bongo night' and she says 'it's Sunday that means popcorn'. So much for 'bongo'. Love the tropics, it is dark by 6.30 and will be light by 6.00am. This is good for ones being, the daylight and nighttime are more or less equal, good balance. We attended a showing of yet another brilliant artist, Abigail Hadeed, whose work spans decades. Her photography is exceptional and her current show ' the Weight of Water' at the 'Y' is something not to be missed. We are a truly talented people, only 1.3m of us yet we can produce world-class works of art. This is why we are very special, very special indeed. I see the great country of America is having their 'midterm' election.  Why should this be of any import for a small island like ourselves? Well for starters I think there is an equivalent Trini population living in the good ole USA. Depending on h

'aghhhhhhhh'

This week has me feeling so down about the rock and what really is our future. I have always considered myself to be Mr. Optimistic. Things would be bad, sometimes downright terrible with little or no hope and I would be there battling it out. The hard part is our present and future position is all man made [excuse the gender] and it seems that no matter what we do, how we vote, who we put our trust in, it somehow ends up bad. In 1956, the hope was there, a mass appeal, in 1986 it returned and was destroyed by 1990, in 2010 432,026 electors voted for the Peoples Partnership, in excess of 60% of the population. By 2015 a lot of the love disappeared and we found ourselves in a position of no-where once again. I use these years because the popular vote was there, the majority voted overwhelmingly for the winning party. Even though the winner in 1956 did not win by any semblance of a majority, over 80% of the electorate cast their vote. It is interesting to note that in 1956 the PPPG
