Maya

On both sides we have a family history of dogs. In Arima we had dogs, many dogs, roaming the wilds of Sierra Vista. I think labradors were the favourite of the family. In our own generation we continued the legacy. A family that has animals and cares for them is very special. Children grow up understanding about looking after others and being kind and loving to animals. Maybe that's where my 'BAN HUNTING' comes in. Anyways as in ones lifetime, if you are a dog person, you are going to have to say good bye to maybe 5-7 different friends. This weekend Maya went off to another world after a short bout of liver cancer. She was 61 in human years so I guess she had a reasonable innings.

The new school term starts tomorrow and with that is traffic. Why is traffic so closely associated with school? How come during school vacation the traffic is half of what it normally is? Is it the location of the schools and the drop off and pickup points create the jam? the fact that children have no scheduled transit system to take them to school and drop them home? What happens to all the traffic when the children are on vacation? Do families have a dedicated vehicle for school trips and when on school vacation these vehicles are simply parked up somewhere? How come if school starts at 8.00am that the traffic is still bad at 9.00? Does it mean that all these after 8.00 children are now late for school? I have zero answers to the questions all I know is that from tomorrow is traffic in your 'poeffum'.

The issue of people in a position who can in fact determine your future, your life, are people who live different lives, double lives is scary. The reason they are appointed is now brought into question. The determination of matters brought before them is now a matter of public scrutiny as one is not aware of the reasoning behind the outcome of any decision they make. The Judiciary is the system of courts that interprets and applies the law in the name of the state. When one is compromised, because of ones personal lifestyle, and is not up front with the citizenry, then can one in fact determine a case without prejudice.  In today's headlines are other stories of other members of the Judiciary who have compromised their position. Again lifestyle choices surface. Is there in fact justice for the ordinary citizen? The answer to that question is no! You cannot have members of the Judiciary involved in bacchanalia and expect when 'robed' a different outcome. One's lifestyle is one's business, we need to know who you are up front, your lifestyle choice is a non issue.

I did not listen to the PMOTT's address to the nation tonight. I have no idea what he was coming with. I was simply not interested in what he was going to say. Yes I am a nationalist, a serious citizen of the Rock. What could have the PMOTT said tonight that would have been different? After 28 months of a complete balls up of governance what could he possible say to the Rock? sorry? that he was 'red' but not exactly 'ready'.
Running the Rock cannot be an easy job but if you sell yourself as the best manager then one would have to live up to the hype. Christians, Hindus, Moslems, Black, Indian, White, Asian, 20% poverty, 1% rich, balance in between, Chutney, Soca, pan, -10% GDP, endless subventions, lousy work ethic, corrupt by nature, collapsed Judiciary, failed Public Service, overstaffed State Enterprises.
If it was me I might have made an address to the nation that said 'this Rock is un-governable and I hereby resign'.
Failing that statement you accept the responsibility of running the Rock and you can blame no one for the situation. The previous Administration is the previous Administration, you are now responsible, no one else!

I love where I live, I am going to miss the daily feeding of Crix to Maya but life goes on. There is a whole other world that we can in fact belong to. We dump the prejudice, the race issues, the stupid Colonial style of governance and all of a sudden we have a country we are extremely proud of!

People of the Rock, good night and good luck!

'aghhhhhhhh'

This week has me feeling so down about the rock and what really is our future. I have always considered myself to be Mr. Optimistic. Things would be bad, sometimes downright terrible with little or no hope and I would be there battling it out. The hard part is our present and future position is all man made [excuse the gender] and it seems that no matter what we do, how we vote, who we put our trust in, it somehow ends up bad. In 1956, the hope was there, a mass appeal, in 1986 it returned and was destroyed by 1990, in 2010 432,026 electors voted for the Peoples Partnership, in excess of 60% of the population. By 2015 a lot of the love disappeared and we found ourselves in a position of no-where once again. I use these years because the popular vote was there, the majority voted overwhelmingly for the winning party. Even though the winner in 1956 did not win by any semblance of a majority, over 80% of the electorate cast their vote. It is interesting to note that in 1956 the PPPG...

the Isle of Spice

We ran away, again, to the Spice Island, for a couple days. Work and play. Our first day there was the day of rain. I have never witnessed steady rain, a bucket a drop, like what we experienced on Wednesday. It started just after 7.00am and continued down to 5.00pm. Of course, the drainage system was put under severe stress and there was substantial flooding in many low lying areas, in addition to landslips on the hills. The videos of a guy on a board surfing on the street was real as was the guy attempting to tie his car in order to prevent it from being washed away. What was very noticeable was the fact that people who had to report for duty did in fact report. We stay at a small hotel and the staff were all present and accounted for. Speaking with other travelers the situation was the same throughout. This morning on leaving the hotel again everyone reporting for duty. Speaking with the GM she said that she had to pick up a couple people who were marooned in their homes, but ...

ADD

A great thing happened today. I washed my car and it did not rain. OK, so other absolutely great things made history today, I am sure something was discovered that will change mankind, decisions by world leaders for world peace. None of that is of interest to me because the simple task of washing my car was what was of great import and I marvelled at the sun and dry weather. It is the little things in ones life that give the greatest joy. Tomorrow should be the same with a prediction of only 20% precipitation. Two days with a clean car is good. I am one of those who curse WASA who has leaks on the main roads with spray flying all around and dirtying up my clean car. WASA should have zero leaks, that should be WASA's goal, I don't think that they are interested in any of this as the leaks continue and the complaints from the citizens continue. I remember in the Manifesto of the ruling party a commitment was made to increase the truck delivery of truck borne water. Go figure! ...
